HEY THERE, I'M SHer,

Life is unpredictable, I would like to celebrate it by writing and reflecting on my life as a teacher and mother. If by doing so, I can keep you intrigued and entertained with my stories, that’s all the better.

Thank you for dropping by, keep scrolling for my bio! :)

BIO

THE FULL STORY

I was born in Taiwan, but moved to Canada when I was 12 years old. Back in the days, I was terrible at "core" subjects such as math. The education system back then emphasized a lot on tests and exams. Students were put on a list where they were placed based on all their test scores. And for someone like me, who was terrible at taking exams, school was a torturous place. I often will call my mom from the school phone, crying.

Therefore, my mom decided to find another school environment for my brother,  my sister and I. We were going to immigrate to Canada. She brought with her to Canada, all the hopes and dreams that she had for us.

When I arrived in Canada, I only spoke broken English. I landed at a part of Canada where there were not a lot of Asian people who spoke the same language as me. My life was to be changed forever. We thought that language was one of the biggest barriers for us. However, we were not expecting to be welcomed by the biggest snow storm in Canada at the time. All the glamourizing of how pretty the snow in the west looked were soon to be tossed away by how freezing cold we were.

Our transportation company that had carried all our furniture from Taiwan to Canada was delayed for a week. We didn't have anything at the house but a few sleeping bags that we borrowed from the neighbours. So, the initial impression of the country was not a great one.

Upon my first year of studying in Canada, I managed to win several awards by the end of my grade seven year. My mom was thrilled. She thought, we came to the right place where my daughter's skills were being recognized. And fast forward to a few years after, I was able to learn the language and eventually got accepted to several major universities in Canada. That being said, we are skipping a big chunk of time where life was a struggle, maybe I will write about it later. :P

All in all, life hasn't been all rainbows and butterflies. But with  my friends and family by my side, I was able to get through all the ups and downs that came my way. For me, I love to write and express myself. Therefore, I'm tapping into my writing phase and will be sharing more about my journey in Canada.

Stay tuned!

關於我

THE FULL STORY
